Prescott Whitman Metcalf is the Head Guide, Head Surf Instructor, and driving force behind Beach Break Surf Adventures. He was born in the fields of eastern Pennsylvania to a medal earning swimmer and runner of a Mom and a recreational boxer and rugby player of a Dad in February of 1981. Prescott moved to the shores of the Rappahannock River in Virginia after the first grade, where he would spend his time until he graduated from ChristChurch School in 1999. Four short years later he would graduate from Hampden- Sydney College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics. While growing up Prescott has had many passions; soccer, lacrosse, backpacking, actions sports such as wakeboarding, skateboarding, snowboarding, and windsurfing. But, nothing has consumed his life like surfing has!
Surfing began to take hold of Prescott's life in early high school and has not let go since that first feel of the glide. Prescott has been coming to the Outer Banks since the mid '80's, and his love for the place has only grown. After moving here in early 2005, surfing and the Outer Banks have become a large part of his life and he wishes to pass on the love of both to his clients and students. He has been to many countries for surfing including Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Peru, Dominican Republic, Baja, and England, as well as New York, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, North and South Carolina, Florida, Oregon, and many parts of Southern California within the United States.
Prescott prides himself in providing a top notch service to his clients and students through Beach Break Surf Adventures. He is CPR, First Aid, and Boat Safe Certified, insured, and has accumulated over 25 years of surfing and ocean related experience. He is grateful to be riding surfboards by shaper Joe Shriver and Rascoe of Gale Force Glassing(GFG), and to be riding for the Collared Greens clothing label, www.collaredgreens.com, and Kitty Hawk Water Sports, www.kittyhawkwatersports.com.
